Artist
Anastasia Gofman
Contemporary mixed-media artist exploring transformation, reflection, feminine energy, nature, and the hidden connections between seemingly separate things.
Anastasia “Nastya” Gofman’s work begins with a simple idea: what appears separate may actually belong to the same whole.
Born in 1985 in Tulun, Siberia, Russia, Nastya did not follow a straight path into the art world. Her early life led first toward technology, business, and entrepreneurship, disciplines that taught her structure, persistence, and the ability to transform an idea into something real. Art was always present, but it would take years of personal change before it became the center of her life.
Her artistic foundation was strengthened through formal study at the prestigious Darya Petrik School in Russia, where she developed skills in painting, mosaic, and mirror-cutting techniques. Those disciplines later became central to an artistic language that extends far beyond paint alone.
From Russia to a Life Devoted to Art
In 2022, Nastya moved to the United States and made the decision to devote herself fully to art. She now lives and works in Florida, where her practice has evolved into an exploration of transformation, perception, feminine energy, spirituality, and the relationship between the inner world and the physical world around us.
Her background outside traditional fine art remains an important part of her creative identity. Years in business taught her how to build. Technical thinking taught her to recognize systems and relationships. Her later exploration of spirituality and artistic communication opened the door to questions that cannot always be answered through logic alone.
Art Built from Reflection, Texture, and Transformation
Nastya works with texture, mirrors, metallic leaf, natural stones, resin, paint, and sculptural surfaces, treating each material as part of the meaning of the artwork rather than simply decoration.
Mirrors appear repeatedly in her work because the viewer is never meant to remain completely outside the piece. A reflection physically brings the observer into the composition. Gold suggests illumination, energy, and transformation. Natural stone introduces weight, permanence, and the physical world into works concerned with ideas that are often invisible.
Fragments break apart and reconnect. Reflective surfaces change with the surrounding light. Details appear and disappear as the viewer moves. Instead of presenting a fixed image, many of Nastya’s works become experiences that shift depending on where someone stands and what they bring to the encounter.
The Idea of Wholeness
At the heart of Nastya’s work is a fascination with connection. People often experience themselves as separate from one another, from nature, and from the world around them. Her paintings and mixed-media works explore the possibility that beneath those apparent divisions lies something shared.
Animals, botanical forms, human figures, mirrors, stone, metallic surfaces, and fractured geometry repeatedly become vehicles for exploring resilience, identity, perception, and transformation.
The result is art that is both physical and introspective: textured enough to invite closer examination, reflective enough to include the viewer, and symbolic enough to reveal something different to each person who stands before it.
A Growing Contemporary Art Practice
Since committing herself fully to art, Nastya has continued developing and exhibiting her distinctive mixed-media practice in the United States, including participation in an ArtWithMe exhibition during Art Basel Miami in 2025.
For Nastya, creating art is not simply about making beautiful objects. It is a way of taking things that appear broken, divided, or unrelated and discovering the hidden structure connecting them.
The mirror reflects the viewer.
The fragments become a whole.
And the artwork changes depending on who is looking.
